Living Amish

Their mode of transportation ( good for gas prices)

Me driving home pondering their life.

While I was visiting my other set of Grandparents we had the opportunity to visit with the Amish. My G-ma has lived there, well as long as I can remember ,anyway the Amish the last few years have moved in and have built stores, beautiful homes, barns furniture store etc.

It's so beautiful to see how they live and out of respect I didn't take any pictures of them. I assume this is how the pioneers lived. It's amazing to watch them make the furniture and cut the wood and the end result is GORGEOUS. We went to their bakery and let's just say I'm glad I don't live near them because it's NOT weight watchers friendly all I can say YUMMY YUMMY . Their VERY friendly and their life is SO simple.

The kids go to school until the 8th grade and then they are put to work ( homes, crops etc..) I loved spending time with them and Harrison played with little guys and they loved every minute of it. They're wonderful people.

What a great thing for your kids to see...well and the parents too!! A great reminder to keep our lives simple!! If it could only be that easy!! I don't baby-sit Wyatt anymore, they actually moved back to their old stomping grounds, Thatcher! They gotta follow their cowboy/ girl hearts! I love them, they are so fun! I love your glasses...very stylish and cute!

That sounds like a great experience to see how the Amish live. We almost went when we were back East but decided not to...I wish we would have. That pic of you pondering their lifestyle cracks me up. I don't know why...you just look so serious. :)

Amy - that is so neat that you were able to spend some time with them. I know that if I were there for any length of time, I would tell Dean that we are selling are home and going to live in the mountains! Sometimes, it is so refreshing to see people living such a simple life and reminds us to slow down and just enjoy it. :)

Hope all is well with your fam Amy.
